Our Story

Welcome to Hotel Sky 5 — a boutique hotel built on a family legacy and brought to life through global inspiration. Our story begins in 1988, when Mr. Balbir Chand Anand, my children’s great-grandfather, laid the foundation of this building in Chandigarh. Years later, it was transformed into a hotel by his grandson, Salil Anand — my husband — who first envisioned and designed the space over 15 years ago.

Now, that legacy continues under the care of Chander Bushan Anand, my father-in-law, an architect who has played a pivotal role in preserving its soul while guiding its evolution.

I’m Larissa P. Maldonado Anand, the General Manager of Hotel Sky 5. While the hotel remains a family property, I’ve taken on the responsibility of shaping its next chapter — overseeing everything from renovation and design to operations, guest experience, marketing, and storytelling. I do all of this with the support of my husband and my father-in-law — together, we are a small team with a shared vision.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, raised in Brasília, and deeply shaped by my years in the UK, I bring with me a global perspective, a passion for aesthetics, and a deep respect for meaningful spaces. Growing up in Brasília — a city imagined by Oscar Niemeyer — taught me that architecture can hold emotion, rhythm, and soul. Now living in Chandigarh, shaped by Le Corbusier, I see more than a coincidence. These two modernist visionaries not only worked together on the United Nations Headquarters, but also influenced one another’s ideas of space, light, and civic life. It feels only natural that Hotel Sky 5 would grow between these two worlds — built on family legacy, guided by global design, and alive with quiet meaning.

A Story Sketched by Generations

One of the most moving moments of this journey was watching my daughter, Sophia — born in the UK and carrying her heritage with pride — place her hands over her grandfather’s as they drew the first croquis for the hotel’s renovation. It was more than a sketch. It was a bridge between generations. A quiet gesture of continuity.

We chose herringbone wooden floors, marble tops, and globally sourced finishes — not for show, but to honor both tradition and timeless design. Everything here is intentional.
